My Personal Story (and How to Connect with Bestselling Authors & Influencers)

Five years ago this month, my business shifted in a significant way.
And when I say significant, I’m talking about a “MACH 3″ shift - the kind that allows you to LEAP AHEAD to more meaning, impact and results faster than you ever thought possible.
Through a series of conversations and two serendipitous introductions, I launched AuthorTeleseminars.com in June of 2007. Almost immediately, I went on to build relationships with and host virtual book tours for an incredible group of bestselling authors, C-level execs and influential leaders, like Keith Ferrazzi, Seth Godin, Guy Kawasaki, Tim Ferriss, Carol Roth, Michael Port, and many many others.
Here’s the most interesting part.
I was able to make connections with these bestselling authors and get them to say YES to participating in and promoting my virtual book tour events with hardly any “list” or following of my own. And, definitely without a relevant website or online presence (that came MUCH later).

What’s Blocking Your Vision?

Last night’s live video chat was nothing short of incredible. In fact, tears come to my eyes just thinking about it…

Interview with Steve Pressfield: Overcoming Resistance and Doing the Work

Resistance.
It’s the insidious force that threatens to stop us in our tracks and prevent us from doing the work that truly matters - whether that work is writing a book, launching a business or pursuing any other creative venture that poised to make an impact.
With 10 books and 34 screenplays under his belt, including the Legend of Bagger Vance and the classic, The War of Art, bestselling author and historian, Steven Pressfield, knows a thing or two about Resistance and how to overcome it.
Earlier this week, Steve and I had an opportunity to chat about his newest book, Do the Work, and what it really means to navigate around Resistance in order to take a project from start to finish.
During our interview, Steve shared some incredible insights and wisdom on several aspects of doing great work, including:
- two questions you must ask yourself before starting any project
- how ideas develop - and why they don’t come linearly
- the relationship between action and reflection (and why you don’t do both at once!)
- how research and preparation can morph into resistance
